Wingtra announced their latest VTOL (vertical take off and landing) drone this week—the WingtraOne GEN II. The WingtraOne drone is fully compatible with Propeller PPK and the latest generation promises even more advanced features, including:

    • Brand new oblique payload integration for the finest 3D map quality
    • PPK integrated on every drone, including with multispectral payloads
    • Self-diagnosis, fail-safe algorithms, and services for dependable operations
    • And more

“We wanted to make the Wingtra drone even more versatile for our customers,” says Maximilian Boosfeld, co-founder and CEO of Wingtra. “I’m especially excited to announce our oblique solution, which offers outstanding 3D mapping results.”

Let’s take a closer look at the WingtraOne GEN II.

    VTOL basics

WingtraOne is a Swiss-made VTOL drone. If you see “VTOL” and think “gesundheit,” don’t worry. We’ll start with a few drone hardware basics.

VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) drones are innovative drone hardware, combining elements from both quadcopter and fixed-wing designs. They take off and land vertically like a quadcopter, which makes them perfect for dense urban areas or other spots with limited airspace. But they act like fixed-wing drones in flight (translation: they’re fast!) to facilitate high-efficiency, large-scale mapping.

What’s great about WingtraOne GEN II?

The original WingtraOne was already impressive in its own right, but WingtraOne GEN II has a few upgrades that we couldn’t wait to share with our customers.

Here’s what’s new with WingtraOne GEN II:

    • Predictive maintenance: WingtraOne GEN II intelligent algorithms continuously analyze all critical components before and during flight.
    • Smart notifications: WingtraPilot notifies you of any potential malfunction before it occurs, so you can rest assured that your flights will land safely.
    • Oblique payload: The payload range now includes an oblique camera for the most detailed 3D reconstruction and a built-in PPK GNSS receiver for each camera, allowing you to take on a wider array of missions with centimeter-level accuracy.
    • PPK on every drone, for every camera: All cameras, including the multispectrals, now benefit from the built-in multi-frequency L1/L2 PPK GNSS receiver. Get centimeter-level accuracy without any ground control points (GCPs), plus seamless image-stitching and unprecedented spatial accuracy.
    • Enhanced landing accuracy: A new navigation and heading unit (NHU) boosts the landing accuracy of the WingtraOne down to two meters.

Propeller PPK is compatible with your perfect drone

WingtraOne GEN II is a reliable workhorse for worksite drone surveying. Conduct small or large-scale surveys with optimal results. Then, just drag and drop your WingtraOne flight data into Propeller’s cloud-based drone data analytics software and let our experts handle the rest.

WingtraOne GEN II could be the perfect drone for your worksite. But if VTOL is overkill for your needs, we’ve got you covered. Propeller PPK pairs with several recommended drones, hand-picked to suit the widest possible range of worksites.
